This summer has been one of the busiest periods that Nexus Open Systems and Nexus Open Software have experienced. Both companies have completed many innovative ICT projects for new and existing clients, including network infrastructure upgrades, disaster recovery solutions, websites and bespoke software development projects.

Key Organics, an independent Cornwall-based Chemistry Services and Contract Research company, wished to migrate their computer network systems to a Microsoft Windows and Exchange Server 2003 platform. The company decided to invest in the expertise of a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner to ensure that they were getting the best consultancy advice, project management and technical skills. Nexus Open Systems was selected as it is strategically placed in the south west and has a proven track record in delivering successful ICT projects. Key Organics are very satisfied with the project and now benefit from a computing environment running the latest Microsoft business productivity software.

Goodridge, a leading supplier of hoses and fittings to the automotive and racing industries, is a global company that operates from its head office in Exeter. Goodridge needed to upgrade their Wide Area Network (WAN) to provide a secure and resilient Virtual Private Network (VPN) to link all of the regional offices around the world. Following consultation, Goodridge chose Nexus and after several planned stages including consultancy, configuration and deployment, the new VPN was rolled out. The solution delivered by Nexus provides a highly resilient Wide Area Network, which is fully protected against failure.

iimia Investment Group - iimia, a rapidly expanding investment management and specialist financial planning company of 100 staff, recently commissioned Nexus to supply consultancy for a data replication solution to increase data security and resilience for the company. Nexus technical staff provided consultancy, configuration and testing services. DoubleTake software was configured to provide failover to iimia's disaster recovery site located in Bournemouth and then failback to the main operations site in Exeter. The replication solution protects data stored in Microsoft Exchange server and a number of Microsoft SQL and data storage servers.

Kay Elliot Architects are an international award winning firm of architects. They operate from their practice base in Torquay, Devon. The company runs a computer network for approximately 30 users based upon the Microsoft Small Business Server platform. When the company found themselves without an IT Manager for a period of 3 months, Nexus were asked to step in and temporarily provide a complete managed ICT support service. The contract was based around regular scheduled site visits to attend to all routine ICT administration and maintenance, all user enquiries and support issues. The flexible nature of the facilities management contract works very well for Kay Elliot Architects, allowing the correct level of service to be delivered as circumstances demand.

Cathedral Appointments, a successful and well established Exeter recruitment business, have worked closely with both Nexus companies for many years. Nexus supply a diverse range of ICT services to Cathedral Appointments, including day to day computer network support, website development and general technical consultancy.
Recently the company invited Nexus to propose and deploy a suitable telephony and communications solution. Nexus are authorised to supply a number of different manufacturer's telephone systems. Nexus Open Software has been busy working this summer on a number of exciting software and website development projects for companies across the south west.

This software, recently developed by Nexus, rapidly generates high quality, industry leading websites that allow authorised users with little or no technical knowledge to maintain and update their own website content, and in some cases also integrate the website with their internal business systems. Nexus Open Software has also recently been awarded a number of other exciting website development related contracts, including a project for Vapormatic to develop a world-wide, multi-lingual website for its online tractor parts sales. MiCore continues to lead the way in delivering customer Intranets, Extranets and Portals. Viridor Waste Management has recently purchased MiCore to deploy a company-wide Intranet. A clever new feature will be introduced for this deployment, enabling staff at different locations to view information specific to that site.
Bray Leino asked Nexus to develop a customised homepage for their MiCore powered Company Intranet. They now have an exciting and interactive new design incorporating an image gallery and slide-show, with links to news articles. This new highly graphical design appeals to the Bray Leino user base and promotes increased use of the Intranet.
Nexus software developers have been working hard on an exciting new development for MiCRM Marketing Software, which enables integration with Microsoft Exchange. This web services interface will be developed further over the next few months and extended to all of our software products, offering benefits such as synchronisation with Microsoft Exchange.
Nexus have won significant contracts for MiCRM in a variety of different industry sectors. City College Plymouth has over 25,000 learners per year and has a vision to become the South West's leading provider of innovative, skills-based, vocational education and training. The College recently selected MiCRM Marketing Software by Nexus to provide a fully integrated, web based customer relationship management (CRM) solution to their Workforce Development team. MiCRM will help the organisation to enhance their communication with local employers, promote the College training services and support businesses in gaining a skilled and motivated workforce. The software will initially be deployed to approximately 30 staff enabling them to efficiently manage all aspects of their business communication and marketing.
Rawle Gammon Baker (RGB Ltd) is one of the leading builders' merchants in the south west operating out of eleven branches. RGB selected MiCRM Marketing Software by Nexus to drive a software project aimed at improving business efficiency. MiCRM is being deployed to office staff and most importantly to field sales staff using mobile PDA devices. This functionality allows field sales staff to instantly review important customer information while on the road or at a client site and update the software in real time. This aims to increase the productivity of field based staff and also provide improved reporting and management information.
KLC International have over 25 years experience of supplying equipment for heavy construction, road building, port and container operations, mechanical handling, heavy transport, road haulage and industrial complexes. KLC required an urgent resolution to an Access 97 database problem they were experiencing that was disrupting their business. Nexus responded rapidly by providing an experienced software developer who fixed the problem and supplied additional advice on how to migrate the database to a more robust Microsoft SQL server platform in the future.
